Frankie and the Witch Fingers
“Merry Go Round” b/w “Mantra” and “Mystical Rapture”
Chiming with 12-string glory, “Merry Go Round” draws upon the perennially dreamy sound of West Coast psych, with echoes of Love and The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band merging with those of Paisley Underground legends The Three O’Clock and The Rain Parade.
With its droney, Velvety groove, “Mantra” evokes a knowing wink between John Cale and Lou Reed. The mantra itself, “Have fun, don’t be sad,” found its way onto some of the first Frankie and the Witch Fingers T-Shirts to grace merch tables in venues across America.
The frantic, fuzzed-out freak-out of “Mystical Rapture” captures the essence of the band’s dynamic onstage presence with lyrics that are, as the title suggests, both mystical and rapturous.
Singles are pressed on 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl records.
